Seen wearing a bowtie as frequently as Lagerfeld wears gloves, Alber Elbaz, also known as the transformer of Lanvin, has presented yet another winning collection. Quoted in WWD as saying he wanted to create "emotional clothes" for women for his spring 2008 collection, these thoughts transcended to the fall collection and once again Elbaz evoked a plethora of emotions.Opening the show with a very simple knee length, semi turtle-neck dress, with intricate cuffs grasping the models wrist on top of leather gloves, Elbaz presented this seasons collection as if he were playing crescendo on the violin. Quickly transitioning, by the fourth look Elbaz introduced a gris hued double breasted v-neck dress, a piece that could easily be worn as a coat, which included fur that draped the left shoulder and right forearm. From adding shape to the wafe-thin models with structured dresses, seemingly molded after the perfectly shaped woman, to the perfect suit, exquisite winter coats and to-die-for evening dresses, it's no wonder they call Elbaz "The Professor of Desire". There were furs, patent, leather gloves, giant cuffs and a very memorable heavily embellished cocktail dress that i'm sure every woman in the house will be purchasing. It's often difficult to find a collection that gives a woman everything that she needs and desires, but Elbaz gave women everywhere, everything. He's bad. You know it.
Fabulously yours,
Jennifer Pauline
