GRAMMYS 2008: Sizzling Performances

The performances of the night were really great compared to some in the past. I haven't seen a more entertaining Grammy ceremony since like what? 2004?! Well last night really gave me a change of heart! Of course my highlight and (should have been yours too!) of the night was the duet with Beyonce & the legendary Tina Turner! OMG.. It was priceless to see those two on stage together and to just be having fun! Tina is 68 years old and look at her! I was in amazement to see her move around and kick her legs up and execute that choreography that she's been doing for the past 40 years! I was so happy to see an ICON take an "aspiring" "ICON" by the hand and say... "let's get em"! It was a beautiful thing. Beyonce' is totally a mixture of all our past legends, and I'm confident when I utter those words. Last night proved it!
Alicia Keys opened the show with a duet with Frank Sinatra which I thought was beautiful. I always have my moments for Miss Keys and tonight I was definitely pleased. She graced the piano in a emerald toned gown and she harmonized beautifully with the late Sinatra. Also country best selling artist Carrie Underwood delivered a racy performance in some thigh high pattened leather boots, black shorts, and a top that fitted her perfectly! It was quite the performance for a country singer!
John Legend and Fergie performed a classic just before the award for "best soundtrack" was given out. John Legend is such an multi-talented artist, who was dressed in all Armani. Fergie sang in an olive green "greek-um" dress for her very swift performance she gave. Amy Winehouse gave an "via-satelitte" performance right before she won her 2nd Grammy award for the night! I was really excited to see the panel recognize her work. To be honest, no matter what Amy goes through, there is no other artist in the industry that makes music like she does.
Rihanna looked "sick-oning" during her performance this year. She rocked out with Morris Day & The Time performing "Umbrella" & "Please Don't Stop The Music" which they should have because she definitely did not dance! OMG.. I was like RiRi, "come on baby where the moves at"??!! Two stepping in what looked like last season's Dolce & Gabbana, (but was Zac Posen as well, is the only thing that kept me "alarmed" during her performance. Last but certainly not least, Mr. West delivered a very innovative, and moving performance with "Stronger". Also joining him on stage was musical geniuses Daft Punk, who produced the song. Near the end of his performance he gave a moving tribute to his mom who passed away. Overall the performances this year were really great! I hope that this is the start of a good trend!
