Fight The Power.

Editorial: Beyonce covers April's issue of Ebony Magazine

Asked to describe herself as a wife:

“I don’t know how to talk about it because I don’t like to talk about it. But I have a great example of a great wife, and that’s my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I’m lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband.”

She says they are just like any other couple. She is learning to cook and he’s getting over his single-guy habits.

One thing she does to get on his nerve: “I’m a little messy. Oh, yeah. Whenever I’m out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don’t want to take care of anything. I drop it. I’m relaxed. I don’t have any shoes on. No makeup. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is most difficult thing for him. He’s very, very organized. I’m extremely organized when I’m working, and I work so much that when I get home I don’t want to think about anything.” Source

As for what Jay-Z does that get on her nerves: She laughs, “I won’t say.”

Ok so I get tons of emails daily from all types of people and backgrounds with questions of "how to dress" to " how to build self-confidence/swagg". What I've realized is that Im a person that you either LOVE or HATE, there is NO INBETWEEN. Some say I have too much sass, some say Im over confident and cocky but if you ever get the chance to know me you will walk away from our friendship with a certain presumptuousness of excessive belief. Im guessing certain people use myself as a model of how to become that "power driven no time for bullshit" person. Since it's not a phase, it's the way I was raised I only know one way. Here comes the "she needs your help". So I get this email from this young lady and Im not sure I can help her.

Her email,

"Ok, so I've been reading your blog for a while now and I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely love your wit. But that is not the reason I've written you. Because I've been reading your blog, I've mad quite a few changes in my life, i.e. eating habits, dressing differently, and so forth. However, I've found that with these changes comes attention from people in a way that I'm not used to or comfortable with so much so that I've gone back to drab. What kind of look would you recommend for a girl that wants to be fashionable, but doesn't feel comfortable with being approached. I'd love to look nice, and it's not that I show any of my body in an improper manner, I guess I'm just not used to it.

I know you're probably pretty busy, and you don't know me from Adam, but I'd really like some help.

Your dedicated Reader,
Miridia
"

Honestly Im not really sure where I come in at because my genetic make up made me who I am. Meaning I only know how to be one way--self assured and awareness of self. I can't tell you how to perform without an audience. I don't think that's even possible. If you're onstage people are going to watch, it's when they stop watching you should begin to worry.

Any thoughts on this?

WoMEN'S Wear.

There is nothing sexier than the vision of a woman wearing a man's garment, whether an old cardigan, sport jacket or oversized tee shirt. With women such as Janelle Monae, adding femininity into masculine garments is gearing most girls into their daddy's closet. I love how their personal flair can add such character to a gentlemen's piece, creating a masterpiece.

The Key to accomplishing this, is to select items that are unique in design, color, texture and detail. The fit of the garment can always be addressed with a proper tailored experience. You should also take notice in the items you pair with the garments ( shoes, bags, and jewelry ). This will help with the feminine appeal of the outfit. The last thing you want to do is look like a man. Below are two women that executed this look well.

Now ladies be very careful, the shoulder pads could make the suit very much masculine and be attentive to the shoes that you choose. But overall, this look has such contrast and Im expecting more women in the men's department.

Après Diem.

Photo: Veggie Melt w/House Salad
Location: Apres Diem Cafe, Atlanta Midtown

When it comes to dinning Im always open to unique cafe's and tapas, Im so not a fan of commercial restaurants. But who would've ever thought that this little cafe that's hidden between Trader Joe's could create such a relaxing artistic dinning experience. Après Diem evokes the atmosphere and flavor of the classic cafes and bistros of Europe through its mellow ambiance and eclectic menu. Serving traditional continental cuisine with an updated edge, Après Diem also boasts an extensive and carefully selected wine list to compliment your dining experience. Indulge in a delightful dessert from their pastry case and top your meal off with a steaming hot latte or cappuccino!.

With a menu full of turkey, chicken and salmon dishes I opted for the veggie melt and salad-a mix of my favorite vegetables and peppers topped with slicked avocado and cheese on a fresh baguette. This ensemble was great, I was able to eat light and not break the bank. I think my total came out to be $9.71 without tip, so definitely stop by this cafe if you're ever in Atlanta.
Below are a few sandwiches that you should try.

Ok so I don't pretend to be a sneaker head or fan but when I saw my lil bro Christian Ragin wearing these Miami Edition Lebrons I said "everytime I see you I gotta pull out my camera". He has the sickest shoe game on campus, if you wanna talk about consistency and labels he brings in the noise. He keeps me on and was on his way outta town. I smiled, I love a young go getter-jet setter. I gotta admit, I kinna want a pair, could you imagine me rockin these with a double breasted!! Naw I'll leave it to you Chris.

Limos Were Cool, Right Showbiz?

Sighting: 90's limo found on the streets of Atlanta, Ga

When I saw this limo the other day it automatically brought me to my childhood, all I can remember is how I use to give so much to my parents. Every birthday I wanted a limousine to pick up my friends and I from school, and I never wanted parties on the weekends, I would tell my mom "everybody has their party on Saturday or Sunday, I want mine on like a Friday".

I was always the "show off" kinna type and I would stress to her that I wanted the limo to come at the perfect time, you know when the other kids parents were coming to pick them up. I was in elementary school so we got out at 3:00pm, and on Fridays we had snowcone day, I always opted for the pickle and popcorn joint because it was just tacky to attack that ice in public-plus I was scared for that color syrup to get on my clothes. My family members use to call me Showbiz because I was always at Showbiz Pizza, which is now Chucky Cheese. I would have the biggest table in front of the stage where they had the band of mechanical animals performing. Back to school on Monday, all the kids would be talking during a game of four square, "you the one who was in that limo huh", smile. See I was always good at branding, I think it's because I was an only child, I had nothing to do but to plan out how I wanted to be perceived.

Cliche.

Sighting: Kanye West attending the Luella show in Covent Garden, London Fashion Week

I feel like anything that I might say about Ye at this point would be cliche. Cliche is good right. In the back of my mind; he can change my life. Kanye is the big brother, Taz is the cousin and Jay is the uncle. Let the story begin right. Is that cliche to say?
