The Hollywood night of the year took place tonight, thankfully right after the Writers Guild ended strike. The 80th annual Oscars ceremony took place at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles California. Although it was a pretty ceremony filled with "blah".... the red carpet is always a thriller to look at! Here are my dazzlers of the night! Miss Klum stepped out in a Dior Couture bright red gown with an exaggerated neck. I loved it. Keri Russell came in wearing Nina Ricci, and looked soooo regal. Katherine Heigel looked amazing in her candy apple red Escada number, and sported it well with neatly curled hair. Now Hilary swank was astonishing in her Atelier Versace gown. I feel like she has definitely stepped her game up since her "Million Doller Baby" Oscar win. Marion Cotllard, tonight's winner for "Best Lead Actress" had me in tears when she stepped on stage in her Jean Paul Gaultier gown. Her neatly pinned to the side hair was very much so accommodating to her look. And last but not least soon-to-be mom, Nicole Kidman came through with a very bland Balenciaga dress and Bottega Veneta clutch simply putting the focus on her 1,399-carat diamond necklace designed by L'Wren Scott. It made it all work.
Penelope Cruz made a statement and stormed in with a "special made" Chanel couture gown that Lagerfeld himself stitched! Work out Penelope! Baby bumper Jessica Alba was a presenter tonight and she graced the stage in a cranberry colored Marchesa gown that helped hide her bump! Her and Anne Hathaway probably went to the same showroom in New York because tuna was in Marchesa as well, and it was beautiful! Jenifer Garner turned heads in Oscar De la Renta gown accompanied with a soft face of make-up. I don't know what stood out more, her face or her gown (it was the only De la renta on the carpet tonight) from what I saw... or her make-up! I thought she was painted delightfully and it was very appeasing to my soul. And last on my "hitters" list is sick-o-ning actress "phish" Cameron Diaz who is actually one of my favorite people in the industry! She tipped in a Dior couture soft pink detailed gown that made her the belle of the ball! Her swept locks were pulled away from her face and capped on with a messy bang and clutch! It was great! Overall this year's Oscars was very well put together based on passed ones I've seen! Besides... I only watch it for the gowns anyway!
((.. and the award goes to!))
