Bill Blass presented you with one of the more universal and versatile collections, I feel, during New York fashion week this season. From impeccable gowns, to ready-to-wear garments, I was thoroughly impressed with nearly everything he presented and I wasn't really surprised that I was. Growing up my grandmother wore beautiful Bill Blass top's & skirt's and for some odd reason I remember that name, and it always sticks out to me. This collection was very broad, yet cohesive and the colors were nothing short of immaculate.
The color palette he chose was so soft and warm. I'm always drawn to color that seems welcoming and to pair it with such edgy designs causes contrast that I absolutely live. The "Tarzan" inspired one-strap but "not" number is really racy and was summed up by that cinched ribbon in the waist. The pale off-white halter gown was also a contrast simply because of the styling. Paired with those black opaque leggings and those strappy heels gave it a rock-edge that set the dress totally off! It was well executed.
Then came the florals and ruffles which hardly anyone could get away from this season! I enjoyed it here because it came from out of no where. The black & white semi-puff dress cinched with that emerald toned purple belt screamed SPRING! The ruffled sleeveless top was chic and almost semi-formal with those wide legged black pants. It was a very simple number exaggerated by the ruffles.
This gave me "off to work" 10 years from now! I can't wait until I see women tipping to work in exaggerated knitted top's with drastic necks and and coats that say "too much!" The purple skirt was absolutely adorable along with the huge over-sized bag. The jeweled toned top matched with the black skirt, leather gloves, and that dark make-up puts my mind in a place where fashion hasn't reached on a everyday basis. I'm elated just sitting here thinking about it!
See... this here, explains why I feel the way I do about this collection. It was versatile to the max. You were given gowns, top's, skirt's, amazing accessories, colors, blacks & whites, and that simple hair-style exemplified each look in it's entirety. The silver empire waist, wide-legged pant suit with the accent bow was too cute to handle. It was very rebellious school girl, who knew she was cute! The "salt-n-pepper" jacket was refreshing paired with that vest and accent bow as well. I am so happy that this collection expressed it self in so many ways and conveyed it's message over to society that Spring wear can be pulled off in several ways.
