The Return : NY Fashion Week State of Mind

It's been a while Latebooters, my apologies. I have been in NY working with a fashion house in preparation for their fashion presentation. I will tell you all about this fashion house shortly, including my own personal pictures, until then, let the anticipation build and enjoy my favorite picks from fashion week so far. There is something about the Mulleavy sisters line, Rodarte, that has me spellbound. The way they take a concept, make it their own and show the world their creativity every season is very admirable. Unlike the fall 2007 collection, this season, the sisters mixed colors reminiscent of Missoni, stacked models on top of sky high Louboutins and put some torn, tattered threads on them. It's quite an extreme look in comparison to their spring 2008 collection, but that's fashion, full of surprises.Zac Posen will always be a favorite pick of mine for each season that he presents, he never ceases to amaze me with his sophisticated looks for a woman. The fall 2007 season presented a wine/burgundy colored cape that I absolutely adored and this season my pick would be the tutu, ballerina-esque dresses, they are so Sex and the City like. The excessively stacked necklaces, looks reminiscent of the 20's and the slight sequin presence was exactly what I needed.Working across the street from Bryant Park was ubber convenienet for going to check out some shows. The Anna Sui show took place on Wednesday and while many people say "Has Anna Sui made any money since the 90's?" I think that she is making a comeback. Slightly messy, slightly hippie, slightly feminine and lots of colors are what made up the line for the Anna Sui Fall 2008 collection. Although the gift bag was pretty on the outside and drib drab on the inside (blue eyeshadow and wrist band included), the runway looks captured enough attention. Sui presented misunderstood and complex beauty that many may not understand but I can appreciate.

Until next time!

Fabulously yours,

Jennifer Pauline
